Characteristics Of The Reducer Running-in Period May 27, 2020

Characteristics of the reducer running-in period:

1. Fast wear rate

Due to the influence of factors such as the processing, assembly and commissioning of new reducer parts, the contact area of the mating surface is small, and the allowable torque is large. During the operation of the reducer, the concave and convex parts on the surface of the parts are fitted and rubbed with each other, and the metal debris that has fallen down is used as an abrasive to continue to participate in the friction and accelerate the wear of the matching surface of the parts. Therefore, the parts (especially the mating surfaces) are likely to wear during the running-in period, and the wear speed is too fast. At this time, if it is overloaded, it may cause damage to parts and cause early failure.

2. Poor lubrication

Because the fitting gap of newly assembled parts is small, and due to assembly and other reasons, the lubricant (grease) is not easy to form a uniform oil film on the friction surface to prevent wear. Thereby reducing the lubricating efficiency, causing early abnormal wear of the machine parts. In severe cases, the friction surface of the precision fit may be scratched or bitten, resulting in failure.

3. Loosening occurs

The newly processed components have deviations in geometry and fitting dimensions. In the initial stage of use, due to the impact of shock, vibration and other alternating loads, as well as heat, deformation and other factors, coupled with excessive wear, etc. The originally tightened parts are loose.

4. Leakage occurs

Due to the looseness of parts, vibration and the influence of heat of the reducer, the sealing surface of the reducer and the pipe joints will leak; some casting and other defects are difficult to find during assembly and debugging, but due to vibration, With impact, this defect is exposed and appears as oil leakage (leakage). Therefore, leakage may occasionally occur during the break-in period.

5. Many operational errors

Due to insufficient understanding of the structure and performance of the reducer (especially new operators), it is easy to cause failures due to operational errors, and even cause mechanical accidents and safety accidents.
